2023 Sacramento Hickory
May 20-21, 2023
Haggin Oaks GC
You are invited to the 2nd year hickory golf tournament of 36 holes, played over two days on two courses at Haggin Oaks GC. The Saturday round will be played at the Arcade Creek course (1st tee time at 11:03am) and the Sunday round at the Alister MacKenzie Course (1st tee time at 7:30am).
A nonrefundable event fee of $50 includes expenses for a box lunch on Saturday, awards at the completion of the tournament, and reserves your place in the limited field of 40 golfers.
You will not be in the field until your entry fee is received, no exceptions.
The entry deadline is May 1, 2023.
You will pay your golf fees at Haggin Oaks golf shop. The walking fees are $40 at Arcade and $49 at the Mackenzie. For those that prefer to ride in an electric cart, those fees are $18 on Saturday and $19 on Sunday.
There will be 4 divisions: Open, Senior, Statesmen, and Ladies.
Alister MacKenzie designed the ‘MacKenzie’ course (also Augusta National, Cypress Point, and Pasatiempo, among others). It was opened for play in 1932, and has hosted many professional and amateur golf tournaments. Professionals Sam Snead, Jimmy Demaret, Toney Penna, Walter Hagen, Al Geiberger, George Archer, and Gene Sarazen competed here. Ben Hogan won his first professional check here in 1938 at the Sacramento Open (3rd place for $350).
The Arcade Creek course was opened for play in 1957 and, like the MacKenzie course, is framed by 100+ year-old Oak trees throughout. There are no encroaching houses nor buildings except the facility buildings located in the center between the two courses. Also, on each course there are no out-of-bounds that come into play.
Several convenient hotels can be found within a few miles of the golf courses:
Hampton Inn and Suites (0.7 miles), Holiday Inn Express (0.8 miles), Ramada Inn (0.3 miles), Hilton Hotel (2.4 miles), Courtyard by Marriot (3.4 miles), and Hilton Garden Inn (6.1 miles). Also, in downtown Sacramento, about 7 miles away, are many hotels including: Holiday Inn, Sheraton Grand, and Hyatt Regency.
